Terkait pembiayaan iklim, Presiden mendorong komitmen negara maju lainnya untuk memenuhi semua komitmennya dalam pencapaian NDC (Nationally Determined Contributions) secara global. Menurut Presiden Jokowi, pada periode 2000-2019, ASEAN hanya memperoleh 56 miliar dolar atau sekitar 10 persen dari total dukungan pembiayaan iklim negara maju. “Saya harus terus terang bahwa komitmen negara maju untuk implementasi isu pembiayaan iklim sangat rendah. Kondisi ini menjadi penghambat pencapaian NDC secara global,” jelas Presiden. Selain itu, Presiden Jokowi mengatakan bahwa ASEAN berkomitmen meningkatkan proporsi energi baru terbarukan dari 14 persen pada 2018 menjadi 23 persen pada 2025. “Upaya ini memerlukan investasi dan teknologi setidaknya 367 miliar dolar di sektor energi bersih. Di Indonesia, transisi energi 8 tahun ke depan membutuhkan 30 miliar dolar” ucap Presiden Jokowi. Dalam pertemuan tersebut, Presiden Jokowi juga menyampaikan potensi besar yang dimiliki Indonesia terkait transisi energi, yaitu potensi energi terbarukan sekitar 437 GW baik dari energi surya, bayu maupun panas bumi yang saat ini, pemanfaatannya baru mencapai 0,3% dari total potensi.“Indonesia juga miliki potensi besar sebagai hub pengembangan ekosistem kendaraan listrik di kawasan yang akan kita butuhkan 5 tahun ke depan," kata Presiden Jokowi. Sementara itu terkait investasi ekonomi hijau, Presiden Jokowi mengungkapkan potensi peluang ekonomi yang besar dalam pengembangan ekonomi hijau. Oleh karena itu diperlukan mekanisme yang mempertemukan tidak saja sektor pemerintah namun juga dunia usaha. “Investasi di sektor infrastruktur hijau bisa menjadi unsur penting kolaborasi ASEAN-AS yang membutuhkan setidaknya 2 triliun dolar dalam 1 dekade mendatang," pungkas Presiden. Tampak hadir dalam pertemuan tersebut antara lain Utusan Khusus Presiden AS untuk Iklim John Kerry, Menteri Energi AS Jennifer M. Granholm, dan Menteri Transportasi AS Pete Buttigieg. Turut mendampingi Presiden Jokowi yaitu Menteri Koordinator Bidang Kemaritiman dan Investasi Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Menteri Luar Negeri Retno Marsudi, Menteri Investasi/Kepala BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia dan Duta Besar RI untuk AS Rosan Roeslani, sementara Menteri Perdagangan Muhammad Lutfi mengikuti acara di ruangan terpisah.
